How it Works

Step 1

Pick a subject for your art piece! The activity directors help create a list of items each of their residents like, then sends it over to us. For example, someone may love airplanes, or another may enjoy gardens. Student artists pick which interests them and generate their artwork around that idea or interest.

Step 2

Artists spend time on their pieces! The more effort the better! However long it takes them to complete the artwork, they get volunteer service hours (service hours contribute towards scholarship opportunity for Florida schools, called Bright Futures)!

Step 3

Student artists return artwork to the art teacher, Mrs. Perez, who hands it off to Gabi Boyd. She frames the pieces with money donated towards the nonprofit.

Step 4

Once several pieces have been received, we communicate a date for artists to deliver their pieces as a group to one of the partnered memory communities. This gives the student an opportunity to meet who receives their work, and the recipient can keep the piece after meeting the artist!
